Meet The Filmmaker: Monte Laster
On Saturday night Monte Laster will premiere his latest film, The Santo Project, at The Crazy Water Hotel Plaza. This powerful and profound experimental piece captures the incredible true story of 2nd Lt. Jerome Zierlien of Baytown Texas whose heroic efforts saved an entire French village during World War Two.
"I learned of this story when I unknowingly moved to this tiny village of Cramoisy in 2017. This "geographical coincidence" is emblematic of my process and inspired me to create this socially based body of work. This is inspired by Zeirlien's story of ultimate sacrifice for a community of people he would never meet. I believe that everyone is an artist and that everyone should play a role in helping capturing Jerome's incredible story and preserving his legacy 80 years on."
